Senior Officer Redefo “Rudy” Madrid Has Left The Range

The Houston Police Department Marksmanship Team is sad to announce that team member and colleague Redefo “Rudy” Madrid has left the range on October 29, 2020, after a short, but hard fought battle with esophageal cancer.

Rudy, a 29-year veteran, was assigned to the Airport-IAH Division.  He was an avid competition shooter and in 2019 was one of forty officers chosen to represent the newly formed HPD Marksmanship Team, eventually shooting his way onto the primary team.

His shooting skills were just a part of Rudy’s contributions to the marksmanship team.  “He was a great man, always in a good mood, always willing to help anyone, very humble,” said Craig Bellamy, HPDMT Commander.

His enthusiastic and outgoing personality brought fun and excitement to every event he participated in.  We cannot adequately express how much Rudy meant to those who knew him, worked with him and shot with him.  He was truly loved by all.

Please join us in extending our heartfelt condolences to his wife Pinkie and the rest of the Madrid family.  You will not be forgotten.  Rest well my friend, we have the next watch!
